Have an Adventure in Darien National Park
With an area of 579,000 hectares, it is one of the regions with the greatest natural wealth in the world. Declared by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve, here you find too many plant species, seven mammals that do not exist anywhere else such as the four-eyed fox, and it is home to the famous Harpy eagle.
Pierre Station is the best site to watch birds such as woodpeckers, white-fronted nun, laughing falcon or tanagers. Visiting this park is a perfect experience for your adventurous heart.
Fish Like a Champion in Bahia Piña
At an hour flight from Panama City you reach the place recognized worldwide as a paradise for black marlin sport fishing. Bahia Piña holds more than 300 world records, it is the “mecca” for fishermen where you can also fish for blue marlin, sailfish, dorado, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, roosterfish, snapper and many more. Other activities to enjoy are kayaking on Piñas River and walking a path that takes you to some beautiful waterfalls where you can swim.
Go to Playa Muerto and Revive
Located within the Darien National Park, Playa Muerto is just two hours from Garachine town by boat. Visiting this beach is a real adventure. It is a paradisiacal place surrounded by mangroves and exotic settings that take you to the black sand beach community, where you find the only Embera group that lives in front of the Pacific Ocean. Here you can enjoy whale and sea turtle watching, as well as hiking on the Oh Wandra Trail (Harpy Eagle Trail).
Tour Puerto de Obaldia
Located on the border between Panama and Colombia, in this area you can pay in US dollars or Colombian pesos. Its location in the middle of the jungle allows for a more natural exchange of daily life with the Colombian side. Nearby is “Playa Blanca”, a paradise of white sands where you can relax or snorkel, an exclusive place for the privileged who visits it. You can also go to Armila, the last Guna community with very colorful houses and where the Congress of this indigenous group is located.
