This region of the country differs from the metropolitan area of \u200b\u200bPanama City, and is made up of all the urban and rural areas that go from the East of the Tocumen International Airport to the border with the Darien Province. East Panama offers a variety of options to take ecological tours and experience a part of Panama that every tourist should visit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discover Indigenous Communities in Bayano Lake<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This artificial lake just two hours from Panama City was created to supply water to the Hydroelectric Plant since 1976. It is a perfect natural destination to visit the Embera indigenous community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To visit them, book a tour starting at El Corotu port on Lake Alajuela, where the Embera will take you on a canoe through the rich fauna of the region and to bathe in a waterfall. In the community you will be welcomed with traditional dances, cultural demonstrations and craft sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visit Salto del Madro\u00f1o in Las Margaritas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This waterfall is in the Mamoni River, which runs parallel to the Pacora River, and which joins the Bayano to the south. To get to the Mamon\u00ed River you have to drive to Chepo and after 60 kilometres you find the entrance to Las Margaritas, where you go up towards Madro\u00f1o. It is a long journey but here you will live a 100% natural experience surrounded by a canyon that offers a spectacular view and where you can bathe like the gods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Live Rural Life in Agro Tourist Farms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agrotourism in East Panama is a unique adventure and on the farms that offer this experience you will discover how the food that reaches your table is grown while you enjoy beautiful natural landscapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will get to experience rural life, as well as explore, learn and appreciate the work behind the food you enjoy on your table. Some farmers will sell you their products and also offer you food with fresh, seasonal and 0 km ingredients, like at Coquira Soil Project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surf in<\/strong> Chepillo Island<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chepillo is a small island just in front of the entrance to the Bayano River, inhabited by a fishing village with developing tourism. However, here you can surf the famous Chepillo wave that goes from 3 to 8 feet without closing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have to book this experience with a tourism agency, leaving Puerto Coquira you will arrive at the Isla Chepillo beach. A unique place to learn to master the waves with an expert or practice basic techniques of this sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adventure in the Cocobolo Nature Reserve<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cocobolo Nature Reserve is located in the Mamoni Valley, on the southern slope of the continental divide, a mountain ridge halfway between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.  It covers more than 410 hectares (1,100 acres) of primary cloud forests and secondary lowland forests, a vital piece of the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor. This park is home to endangered wildlife such as jaguars, pumas, ocelots, curassows, and harlequin toads, as well as thousands of species of amazing invertebrates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
