In a globalized and competitive world, Panama stands out for its strategic geographical position and technological logistics. The Panama Canal, the Colon Free Zone, Tocumen International Airport and the Panama Canal Railway Company, have driven the country as an international trading platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a transshipment center, Panama has met the international requirements, becoming the multimodal logistics center of the Americas (maritime, air and land transport service). Through the Colon Free Zone, the second most important free zone in the world, goods collection and redistribution service is also provided.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u2014Maritime Route\u2014<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Panama Canal is always a protagonist in this field, serving 120 marine routes worldwide. It represents 5% of the global maritime trade. With the opening of the Expanded Canal, more than 1,500 ships have traveled since 2016. This expansion has been key to the development of the \u201cPort Maritime Hub\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014Main Ports\u2014<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Manzanillo International Terminal (MIT), <\/strong>a port complex with a container terminal and Ro-Ro, storage areas, logistics park and multimodal platform located in South Coco Solo, on the Atlantic Coast. It is interconnected with France Field (Colon City), the largest warehouse area in the free zone. It has a handling capacity of 3.5 million TEUs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Col\u00f3n Container Terminal (CCT), <\/strong>located in Coco Solo Norte, Col\u00f3n, is a point for transshipment and loading – entering and leaving – to and from the free zone. It has a total area of 74.33 hectares and has land access to the Colon Free Zone and the railroad. With four container docks, it has a handling capacity of 2.4 million TEUs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cristobal Port,<\/strong> is operated by Panama Ports Company (PPC). Located in the Bay of Lim\u00f3n in the Southeast of Colon and at the Atlantic entrance of the Canal, with access to the free zone and an interface with the railroad. It has three piers and is 12 hectares. Its capacity is more than 2 million TEUs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Balboa Port,<\/strong> is located on the other side of the Panama Canal (Pacific entrance). With a total of 40 hectares for storage and five docks for container ships, 25 port cranes (10 Post Panamax, 8 Panamax and 7 Super Post Panamax) and 47 RTGs. It is the only container terminal in full operation on the Pacific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PSA Panama International Terminal,<\/strong> is on the west side of the Canal entrance (former Rodman base). It has a dock with three Post Panamax cranes and 9RTGs (1st phase). It has two piers and its total capacity is 2.5 million TEUs. Its main objective is to attract new cargo from Asia to the west coast of America.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u2014Air Terminal\u2014<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tocumen International Airport is the regional hub that connects with more than 88 destinations around the world. To strengthen its competitiveness, the first multimodal logistics zone in Latin America will be built, which will operate under the free zone regime. It will be located adjacent to the Cargo Terminal and inside the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014Ground Transportation\u2014<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Panama Canal Railway Company (1855), is an Interoceanic railroad that serves as a multimodal transshipment link for container shipments between Atlantic and Pacific ports. It also transfers passengers between Panama and Colon, aimed at executives and merchants, tourists and is used for cargo transportation. The tour lasts one hour and 15 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014Pacific Logistics Park\u2014<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Panama Pacifico is an area in the Howard area that connects with the port of Rodman and the Pan-American Highway, as well as with the port of Balboa, the main transshipment terminal for products in Latin America. From here it connects quickly with the Atlantic through the Transisthmian Railway. A special area that will be fully developed in a span of 40 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
