The borders of Panama are open to Visitors from all over the world, keeping the safety and health of both tourists and locals as a priority. For this reason, any visitor who arrives in the country with a complete vaccination scheme for more than 14 days approved by WHO, EMA and FDA, will be able to enter the country expeditiously.

Visitors entering the country must present a negative test for COVID-19 PCR or antigens up to 72 hours before arrival in Panama. If you do not have it within the established time period, you must carry out a test at the airport at the expense of the traveler, before going through migration. If the test is positive, the traveler will be placed in mandatory quarantine in a Hotel Hospital designated by the Ministry of Health. The cost of the stay will be fully covered by the traveler.

Travelers without a complete vaccination scheme coming from or who have transited through high-risk countries (see updated list in the web address below) must undergo an additional COVID-19 test upon arrival in Panama and remain in quarantine for 3 days in a authorized hotel, at the expense of the traveler (list of hotels in the address below). If the test is positive, the traveler will be quarantined (14 days) in a Hotel Hospital and will have to cover all expenses.

However, travelers from these countries who can present a complete vaccination schedule greater than 14 days with a physical card or digital certification endorsed by WHO, EMA and FDA, equal to or greater than 14 days after the last dose, will be exonerated. quarantine.

Recommendations

  • Currently the IATA travel pass is not accepted as proof or vaccination.
  • Health insurance is not a requirement to enter, but it is highly recommended.
  • The use or transport of non-essential items on board, such as blankets or pillows, is not recommended to minimize the risk of cross contamination.

Biosecurity Within the Country

The protocol for tourism in open spaces and places to visit or lodgings under the biosecurity standards recommended by the Ministry of Health (MINSA) are: use of a mask (only withdraw to eat, or bathe in pools and spas), hygiene of hands, minimum physical distance of two meters.

Upon arrival at the establishments, each person must put on alcoholic gel to enter the place. Only limited groups of people will be allowed – maximum six – in the spas that form a bubble (people with whom they live in a home), ten if it is a group event, or 50% capacity of the place in public establishments.

Currently, there are certain mobility and curfew restrictions in quarantine hours. To consult updated protocols go to: www.visitpanama.com/es/informacion/protocolos-de-viaje
